VMWare is platform virtualization software for computing, storage, and networked systems. An ActiveX control distributed with VMware is prone to a buffer overflow vulnerability. The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error while supplying large amounts of data to the "Initialize" method in the ActiveX Control with the CLSID:F76E4799-379B-4362-BCC4-68B753D10744. By persuading a victim to visit a specially-crafted Web page, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to corrupt memory and execute arbitrary code on the system with the privileges of the victim.
Affected: VMWare VMWare Workstation 5.5.1
